For our business activities in Brussels, we are looking for a Compliance Officer/Junior Assessor. Headquartered in Brussels, SCOPE Europe is an organisation supporting credible and effective co-regulation of the information economy. It acts as a think tank to debate key issues in digital policy and provides an umbrella organisation for a range of co-regulatory measures in the digital industry. We are looking for support in our Assessment Department which is responsible for monitoring and assessing the compliance of companies and organizations with a specific code of conduct.
As an accredited Monitoring Body under the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and following international standards, the performance of such monitoring is subject to distinct procedures and formal requirements.
At the same time, the diverse environment of the sectors and companies involved guarantee a challenging and changing “workplace” related to a variety of different subject matters.
Your role will include among others, assessing compliance of companies with approved GDPR codes of conduct, coordinating contact with monitored companies and data protection authorities, drafting internal and external guidelines, and monitoring regulatory changes, media reports, research studies and court decisions.
The ideal candidate holds a degree in a field such as Law, Political Science, Economics, Accounting, or any other relevant domain. He or she is attentive to details, diligent, interested in formalistic procedural work, autonomous, proactive, curious, and eager to understand and expand his or her knowledge in a dynamic landscape such as for e.g., the cloud computing sector.
The candidate must be keen to understand the compliance challenges associated with the intersection of law and tech and shall enjoy working in a team while being able to carry tasks independently.
